Custom Engagement Ring in Egypt: Every Choice

Designing a custom engagement ring in Egypt online: shape, setting, metal and diamond type, each choice explained by CIZELE.

CIZELE 4 min read

A custom engagement ring in Egypt can be designed entirely online, from a sketch, a photo, an heirloom or a rough idea, through a video call and a design tool rather than a shop visit. The choices that actually shape the ring are shape, setting, metal and diamond type; everything else follows from those four.

Starting from what you have

CIZELE begins a custom order from whatever exists already: a reference photo, a sketch, an heirloom stone to reset, or nothing more specific than “something like this but not quite.” There’s no obligation at this stage and no set format to arrive with. CIZELE’s articles on how bespoke works and what actually happens in a bespoke consultation both cover that starting conversation and the weeks that follow in detail; this guide instead walks through the four choices that a custom design is actually built from.

Choice one: diamond shape

Shape decides more of a ring’s character than any other single choice. CIZELE works with ten diamond shapes: round, oval, cushion, emerald, pear, princess, radiant, marquise, asscher and heart. Round is the most traditional and the most common starting point; elongated shapes like oval, pear and marquise tend to look larger for the same carat weight; step cuts like emerald and asscher show broad flashes of light rather than fire. Choosing shape first narrows the setting options that will suit it.

Choice two: setting

The setting decides how the diamond sits and how secure it is day to day. A solitaire holds one diamond with nothing else to distract from it; a halo surrounds the centre stone with smaller diamonds for added visual size; a bezel wraps a rim of metal fully around the stone, the most secure option for an active daily routine; toi et moi sets two stones side by side rather than one; an east-west setting turns an elongated diamond sideways for a less conventional line. Vine and twine settings wrap the band itself around the stone rather than holding it in a fixed head, for a more organic look.

Choice three: metal

CIZELE works in solid recycled yellow gold, white gold and rose gold, plus platinum for rings and bands. White gold and platinum both read as a cool white metal, though platinum is naturally white and denser, while white gold is rhodium-plated and may need replating over years. Rose gold has become a common choice for a warmer, less traditional look, particularly with a bezel or vine setting. Metal choice also has to consider what it will sit against: matching a future wedding band’s metal, discussed in CIZELE’s guide on choosing a wedding band that sits with your engagement ring, is worth deciding early.

Choice four: diamond type

Every diamond CIZELE sets is a real diamond, natural or lab-grown. Lab-grown and natural diamonds are chemically identical and graded on the same scale; the practical difference is cost and origin, covered in lab-grown diamonds in Egypt. Diamonds are pulled from live certified inventory, graded GIA or IGI, and every stone’s certificate is explained in understanding your certificate.

What a custom engagement ring costs to design

Designing a custom engagement ring online costs nothing until an order is placed; the design conversation itself, whether on /create/ or over a video call, is free and without obligation. Pricing depends on the four choices above together, since carat weight, metal and setting complexity all move cost independently. The most useful way to get a realistic figure is to bring a rough shape and budget to the conversation and let CIZELE work backwards from there, rather than pricing components separately first.

Putting the four choices together

None of these four decisions has to be made alone or in order. A common path is to start with a shape or a reference image on /create/, see how it interacts with different settings and metals, then bring diamond options into a video consultation once the direction feels close. There’s no requirement to have all four decided before the first conversation.
