Inside the Atelier: How a CIZELE Ring Is Made by Hand
From a first sketch to a finished ring in your hand, a look at the four-to-eight week journey every CIZELE piece takes, entirely by hand in Alexandria.
Every CIZELE ring begins as a drawing and ends in a single pair of hands. Between those two points is a process that has not fundamentally changed in centuries, refined, but not rushed. Here is what actually happens between the moment you decide and the moment the ring is yours.
1. The conversation
Nothing is made until we understand the person it is for. What she wears, what she avoids, how she uses her hands, the shape of the stone she is drawn to. A ring that suits one hand can be wrong for another, and this is where that gets decided.
2. The design
The idea becomes a drawing, and then a precise digital model. You see the ring before it exists, the proportions of the stone, the height of the setting, the width of the band. This is the stage to change anything, because everything after it is physical.
3. The stone
In parallel, the diamond is chosen, natural or lab-grown, always certified. It is examined loose, under proper light, against its certificate. Only once it is right does the setting get built around its exact dimensions.
4. Casting and building
The model is cast in your chosen gold, then cleaned, filed and assembled by hand. This is slow work. The parts that make a ring feel expensive, the way the prongs sit, the flow of the band into the setting, are decided here, by eye and by hand, not by a machine.
5. Setting the stone
The diamond is set by a stone-setter, one of the most skilled and least visible crafts in jewellery. Done well, you never think about it. Done badly, a stone loosens or sits crooked. This is where experience earns its keep.
6. Finishing
Polishing, final inspection, and the small CIZELE engraving inside the band. The ring is checked against the original design and against the light, and only then is it ready.
Made to order does not mean slower for the sake of it. It means every decision was made for one person, and nothing was left to chance.
Why it takes four to eight weeks
People sometimes ask why a ring cannot be finished in a few days. The honest answer is that the parts that take time, the design, the casting, the hand-setting, the finishing, are exactly the parts you are paying for. A ring rushed is a ring that shows it. A ring given time is one that lasts a lifetime, and looks it.
